Fellowship

XYZ Group (Xtra Years of Zest)
XYZ meets on the 4th Monday of every month for a potluck luncheon and meeting following in the Fellowship Hall of the church. We have approximately 35 in attendance with a membership of around 50. We have several activities for the year planned with three or four speakers scheduled. There is always good food and fellowship. Come join us.

Gardner Quilters
This group now consists of 5 members: Ruth Farris, Martha Oliver, Eddie Sikes, Betty Smith, and Carol Pittman. We lost 3 faithful members in 2006. The money we earn is given to the church (for Budget, Wednesday Night Supper Program, etc.) We have a great time for fellowship and fun besides providing a service. We call it our grief support group. We charge according to the size of the quilt and the amount of quilting we do on the quilt. Our hours are between 8:30 am and 2:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ever so often we go to Charlotte’s (a small quaint restaurant) in Keo, thanks to Ken Carter who drives the bus for us. We do good work. Try us – you’ll like us!

Bible Study Fellowship
This group meets in the Quilter’s Den to study the Bible. This year we have co-leaders who take turns teaching the Bible – Doris Ingels and Martha Oliver. The first three month’s study is on the Parables of Jesus. There are 15 members with 9 to 12 attending each month. The meeting time is 10:00 a.m., the first Tuesday of each month, in the Quilter’s Den, located next door to the church at 1719 Schaer Street.

Progressive Fellowship
This group of ladies meets in the homes of its members and sponsors churchwide activities each year for a cause of their choice. This year the group hosted the Valentine Banquet. They laugh, sing, share and pray, In 2007 we plan to include book reviews from the United Methodist Women’s reading program in some of our monthly meetings. This group meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the homes of its members. This group usually includes 2 or 3 trips to community functions throughout the year.

Serendipity Fellowship
This group of ladies meets in the church Fellowship Hall for a business meeting, program and discussion. They support the Church Women United. Their goal is to provide help wherever needed whenever the are able. This group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m.

Sharing Fellowship
This group meets in the homes of its members for a business session, program, sharing time and refreshments. It supports the Gardner food pantry with a monthly donation. This group meets on the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.. This is the largest group of the fellowship groups averaging about 18 in attendance.

Visitation Fellowship
This group lives up to its name. They visit homebound or shut-in members of the church throughout each month and give a report of their visits at their monthly meetings. They average about 40 visits per month. They meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in the member’s homes. Each person usually brings a sack lunch.

Lamplighter Fellowship
This group meets at noon on the first Thursday each month at various local restaurants. Their project in 2007 is to collect needed items for the Gardner UMC food pantry, support missions, share prayer concerns/joys, and support each other through secret pals.

Women’s Prayer Group
A small group of ladies meet on the first Wednesday of each month in the church library at 9:00 a.m. for approximately one hour. Prayer concerns and joys are shared. The prayer list is updated at these meetings. This group also serves as a prayer chain as needed between meetings. Confidentiality is respected as requested.

Men’s Fellowship Group
This group of men meet at Baptist Hospital on Springhill in North Little Rock in the Conference Room off the cafeteria. The men gather at 6:15 a.m., weekly on Wednesdays. They currently are studying ten of John Wesley’s sermons on the Holy Spirit. Following their meeting they purchase breakfast at the hospital cafeteria and enjoy the fellowship of those attending.

Grief Support
This faithful group of supporters has come together for the common cause of helping one another go through the process of grieving the lose of someone dear to them. The group is led by a pastor from the Hospice Home Care, Inc. Bereavement groups can provide emotional and practical help for people coping with the death of a loved one. Many people have praised the benefits received from such groups. It helps to know that others are feeling what you may be feeling and it helps to know what the different coping methods are for dealing with grief. Hospice Home Care and Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church have joined talent, location and space to meet together for grieft support. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays at noon until 1:00 p.m. They meet at Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church, 1723 Schaer Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114. It is free and open to all. For more information about this group call: Hospice Home Care, Inc. at 1-800-479-1219 or 501-666-9697 or call Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church at 501-374-9520.
